Along Barnegat Bay, Toms River's lagoon neighborhoods have a lot of houses that were raised or rebuilt after Sandy. Inland, the township is full of homes from the 1960s and 1970s. Both need the same things kept up: siding, roofs, gutters, decks, and the concrete and pavers around the house.

The Bay Shore
Lagoon Neighborhoods and Homes Rebuilt After Sandy
Much of the township's bay shore, from Silverton and Green Island to Shelter Cove, Snug Harbor, East Dover, Bay Shore, and Gilford Park, was built after World War II on land filled in as the lagoons were dredged. Many of those houses started out as summer homes. Sandy's surge in 2012 flooded the bayfront and lagoon neighborhoods and the barrier-island beaches, and a lot of homes there were raised or rebuilt afterward.
More wall to wash
A house lifted onto a new foundation has more siding above the ground floor and a longer run of stairs to the front door. The siding gets the same low-pressure soft wash as any other house.

Close to the water
Lagoon homes sit close to the water, and damp, shaded walls are where algae and mildew take hold. A soft wash at under 100 PSI cleans them off.

Power Washing in Toms River
Power Washing Around the House and Pool
High pressure is for concrete, pavers, and brick only. Around a Toms River house, that usually means the pool apron, the patio, the front walk, and the driveway. Tracked-in sand, leaf stains, and green film in the shady corners come off, and the surface gets its color back. Paver patios have their own page, covering everything from a cleaning to a full restoration.

Decks and Gutters at the Shore
Decks and Gutters on Shore Homes
Decks
A pressure-treated or cedar deck by the water gets cleaned first. If the old finish is failing, it is stripped; damaged boards are repaired or replaced; then new stain goes on, in transparent, semi-transparent, or solid. Plan on it every five to six years. Composite decking is cleaned only, and we do not work on foundations or footings.

Gutters
Gutters are cleaned out by hand, every downspout is flushed, and the gutters are looked over while we are up there. Brightening the outside of the gutters and minor repairs are available too. A gutter that needs more than a minor repair gets referred to a gutter installer.
