Power Washing in Jamesburg, NJ
Serving Jamesburg Borough | Family-Owned Business | Rated 5.0 on Google | Free Estimates
No Interstate, U.S. route, or state highway runs through Jamesburg, and it shows up on the houses: what dulls a wall here is shade and growth rather than the film of road grime a highway town collects.
A photo of the shaded side of the house tells us most of what we need.

So most of a Jamesburg job is a soft wash, plus the brick and concrete out front, and we also clear gutters, restore decks and pavers, paint, and replace shutters and trim.
Angelo trains his crew to do every job the way he would, and he checks in on jobs as they run. Call or text (732) 718-6268, and you will hear back within the hour.

Green north walls. Soft washed at under 100 PSI.
Brick walks and steps. Power washed, where high pressure belongs.
Shaded roofs. Algae streaks off, nobody on the shingles.
Gutters. Cleared by hand from October onward.
What Is Actually on the House
What Grows on a Shaded Wall
Dirt on a house is not one substance. A wall on a highway corridor carries an oily traffic film that holds ordinary dirt in place on top of itself. Shade and damp grow something else entirely: the green and black film that takes hold where sun and wind do not reach. It is alive, it needs damp to spread, and it darkens every season it is left alone. Most houses carry some of both kinds. With no highway running through the borough there is less of the first here than in most towns, so most of what you are looking at on a Jamesburg wall is the second.
Why a shaded wall is easier to treat than a sunny one
It has to be killed, not scrubbed off. A soft wash puts a cleaning solution on the wall at under 100 PSI and leaves it there long enough to do that. High pressure would scour the same wall, drive water behind the siding, and leave enough alive in the seams and the grain for it to come back from. The shade here helps that: a wall in full sun dries the solution off before it has finished working, which is why a south-facing wall on a hot afternoon is the harder one to treat properly, not the easier one.

What that means for the length of the visit
A cleaning solution on a wall needs time on the surface to do its work. Rinse it early and the wall looks clean, because the visible film has gone, but what is held down in the texture of the siding survives and starts again from there. That is the difference between a wash that lasts a season and one that lasts. It is also why a soft wash is slower than blasting the same wall would be: the time on the surface is the method, and it is the part you cannot rush.

The walls that go first
North-facing walls, and anything under a tree or beside a fence line that holds the damp. If one side of your house looks a shade different from the rest, that is the side to photograph when you ask for a quote.

How the Borough Got Its Shape
Small Lots, Set Down All at Once
The borough was laid out around a railroad in the 1850s and incorporated in 1887, and it was never rebuilt around anything larger.
The consequence for a wash is that the houses went up close together on short frontages, so most of them have one elevation that never gets a full day of sun. On a street running east to west that works out oddly: the houses along the north side face south and their fronts stay bright, while the houses opposite face north and it is their fronts that go green. One side of the street looks after itself and the other does not, and it has nothing to do with who washes their house.
Streets are narrow and frontages are short, so where the truck parks is settled when we confirm the day before rather than worked out at your curb that morning. It is a small thing that goes wrong often enough to be worth settling in advance.
The Hard Surfaces
Brick Walks, Steps, and Short Drives
High pressure is for concrete, pavers, and brick, and Jamesburg has a lot of brick at the front of the house. Brick shows a cleaning sharply, which is why a brick walk is worth putting on the same quote as the wash. It is also the surface that wants the most judgment: on an older walk the mortar between the bricks is softer than the brick itself, so the joints get looked at before the pressure is set. If a walk has failing mortar, we will tell you before the machine comes off the truck.
Paver patios are their own job, and a shaded one greens up the way a shaded wall does. The weeds and the old joint sand come out, new sand goes in, and sealing is a separate decision on top of that. None of it happens between Thanksgiving and March.

Paint and Trim
What Gets Painted, and When
A shaded wall is also a slow-drying wall, and that is what sets the order of a paint job here. The house is washed, then left long enough to dry properly before anything is sanded or coated, and on a north face that takes longer than most people expect. It is the reason a Jamesburg exterior is rarely washed and painted in the same visit. It also means the last workable weeks of the fall go quickly here, so a late booking is worth making early in the season.

Jamesburg FAQ
Questions We Get in Jamesburg

The green comes back every year. Is washing it a waste of money?
It comes back because the conditions that grew it are still there, so this is maintenance rather than a cure. Two to three years is the usual span between washes; a wall that is shaded and damp all day is at the short end of it. Cutting back what overhangs is what changes the interval most, along with gutters that actually drain and sprinklers that are not aimed at the wall, and the time to do all of it is before the wash.
What happens to the beds under the wall?
They get soaked with plain water first, covered while the wall is worked, and rinsed again afterward. Soaking them first is the part that matters, because a saturated plant takes up much less of anything that reaches it, and the rinse afterward carries off what did. On a shaded lot there is usually more planted hard against the wall than on an open one, so point out anything you are protective of when we walk the job and it gets handled first.
If we wash the shaded side, will the sunny side still look different?
Partly. Washing the sunny side does take off the chalky oxidized layer that builds up on siding in direct sun, and that alone makes a difference. A cleaned north wall can still come up looking newer than the south wall beside it, and if that would bother you the answer is to do the whole house at once rather than chase it afterward.
Why Catanzaro's
Why People Here Call Us
This was our home ground
Catanzaro's was based in Monroe Township, the municipality that entirely surrounds Jamesburg, before moving to Freehold. That means the streets, the parking, and the house types here were familiar long before this page existed.

We will tell you when one side is enough, and when it is not
On a house where only the north face has gone, washing all four is work you do not need yet, and plenty of jobs here are quoted for one elevation. The exception is a long flat wall that turns a corner into the sunny side, because a cleaned face next to a faded one shows the join. Corners hide it; flat runs do not, and we will say which you have.
