Fence Cleaning in Freehold, NJ
Vinyl and Wood Fences | Soft Washed at Low Pressure | Posts and Gates Included | Free Estimates
If your white vinyl fence has turned green along the shady back line, the bottom boards are caked with mulch and sprinkler splash, or the wood fence has gone dark and blotchy, you are on the right page. A fence is the longest thing in most backyards, and a dirty one changes how the whole yard looks.
Tell us roughly how many feet of fence, how tall, and whether it is vinyl or wood.

We clean fences with a soft wash. A professional-grade solution applied at under 100 PSI takes off the green, the black, and the grime without the risks high pressure brings to vinyl and wood, and it is neutralized after use and properly rinsed. We clean fences in Freehold, Manalapan, Marlboro, Monroe Township, Old Bridge, and the towns around them.
Angelo trains his crew to do every job the way he would, and he checks in on jobs as they run. Call or text (732) 718-6268, or send a photo of the fence, and you will hear back within the hour.
What Is on Your Fence
Green Vinyl, Dark Wood, or a Dirty Bottom Rail
A fence gets dirty in three ways, and each one changes what the cleaning can do.
01
White vinyl gone green: the back-line tint
Vinyl does not rot, but it is a perfect surface for algae. The runs along a wooded back property line, the side of the yard between two houses, and anything behind shrubs stay damp and turn green, while the sunny run stays white. The contrast is what makes it so noticeable.
02
Dark and blotchy wood: the mildew fence
Wood fences grow mildew and algae just like decks and siding, and they turn dark and patchy, especially where they stay shaded and damp. A soft wash takes that growth and the grime off.
03
The splash line: the dirty bottom rail
The bottom foot of a fence takes everything that bounces off the ground: mulch and soil kicked up by rain, sprinkler water, grass clippings, and mower spray. It builds into a brown band along the bottom that the rest of the fence does not have.
Fence Problems We Hear About
“My white vinyl fence has turned green.”
Algae. It only needs a surface that stays damp, and the shaded run of a white fence is exactly that. It lifts off the shaded runs in one soft wash.
“The bottom of the fence is caked with dirt.”
That is the splash line from the beds and the sprinklers. It comes off with the wash, and pulling the mulch back an inch or two from the fence keeps it from building up as fast.
“There are orange stains on my vinyl fence.”
Orange staining on a vinyl fence usually comes from sprinkler water with iron in it. It is a different problem from dirt or algae. Send a photo so we can look at it before the job.
“My wood fence looks dark and old.”
If the darkness is mildew and grime, the wash takes it off. If the wood has turned silver-gray from the sun, it will be clean but still gray, and we can talk through what it would take to bring the color back.
“The neighbor’s side of the fence is dirty too.”
We clean the side we can reach from your yard. If you want both sides done and your neighbor is fine with us working on their side, tell us when you call, and we will quote both.
What a Pressure Washer Does to a Fence
Vinyl cracks and dulls under high pressure
Vinyl panels are thin, and a pressure washer can crack them and scuff or scratch the surface. A soft wash cleans them without that risk.

Wood splinters under high pressure
On a wood fence, high pressure tears up the soft grain between the growth rings and leaves the boards fuzzy and splintered. A soft wash cleans it without tearing the grain.

Caps and gates
Post caps are often just pressed or glued on, and high pressure can pop them off or drive water down inside the posts. Caps, latches, and hinges get the same low-pressure wash as the panels.

Pool Fences and Back Lines Around Freehold
Wooded back lines
Many backyards around Freehold back onto a line of trees, and the fence along that line sits in shade and leaf litter all year. That run turns green first and stays greener longest, so it is where the cleaning makes the biggest difference.

Pool fences
Pool fences get splashed and stay wet all summer, so they green up faster than the rest of the fence.

Vinyl in the cold
Vinyl turns brittle below freezing, so fences are washed in the warmer months, in the same spring-to-fall March-through-November season as houses.

What It Costs
How Fence Cleaning Is Priced
Most of a fence price comes from its length and height. The rest:
Length. Measured in running feet around the yard.
Height and style. A four-foot picket fence and a six-foot privacy fence are very different amounts of surface.
One side or two. Your side only, or both sides.
Material. Vinyl and wood clean differently.
How much growth. A light film on the shady run is quicker than heavy growth on every panel.
Access. Fences behind shrubs or along a steep slope take more setup.

Fence Cleaning Questions

Why did the fence turn green again so fast after I hosed it off?
A hose rinses off the film you can see, but the growth itself stays in the texture of the vinyl or the grain of the wood and grows back. A soft wash treats the growth, and the results typically last two to three years.
Can you paint my fence after it is cleaned?
Fences are one of the surfaces we paint, and every exterior paint job starts with a soft wash. The exterior painting page has the details.
Can the fence and the house be done the same day?
Yes. The house and the fence are both soft washed, so they fit into one visit, and a patio or driveway can be power washed on the same quote.
Should I trim back plants along the fence first?
If vines or shrubs are growing into the panels, trimming them back lets every panel get cleaned. Anything we cannot reach, we will point out.
Do you clean the posts and caps too?
Yes. The whole fence is cleaned, and caps get the same low pressure as the panels, so they stay on.
