Serving Middlesex County From Freehold | Family-Owned Business | Rated 5.0 on Google | Free Estimates

If your East Brunswick driveway has a few decades of tire tracks worked into it, the gutters under the street trees fill up every October, or the trim on a 1960s colonial has more coats of paint than anyone can count, you are on the right page.

Photos of the driveway, the house, and the gutters help us get started.

East Brunswick is a Tree City USA, and a lot of its homes went up in the building boom that followed the Turnpike in 1952. Mature trees and older houses make for a particular kind of outdoor work: concrete and brick that need a proper power wash, siding and roofs that need a gentle one, gutters that need clearing, and trim that needs paint.

Angelo trains his crew to do every job the way he would, and he checks in on jobs as they run. Call or text (732) 718-6268, and you will hear back within the hour.

Power Washing in East Brunswick

What East Brunswick Homeowners Mean by Power Washing

Ask for power washing in East Brunswick and you may well mean the whole outside of the house. We clean all of it, but with two methods. The power washer handles concrete, brick, and pavers. Siding, roofs, and fences get a soft wash at under 100 PSI, with a cleaning solution that lifts the grime instead of pressure that could damage the surface.

01

Concrete from the Turnpike years

On a driveway that has carried decades of cars, salt, and shoveling, the grime and green growth work deep into the surface. Power washing takes them off and brings back an even color on concrete and brick.

02

Shade from a Tree City's trees

Shade keeps concrete and brick damp, and damp surfaces grow a green film that turns slick in the rain. Walks and patios under big trees are where that shows up first. On a wide driveway we bring out a surface cleaner if the job calls for it, which keeps the finish even.

03

Pavers and patios

What a paver patio needs comes down to two questions: is the sand still in the joints, and has the color held? If both answers are yes, a cleaning does it. Sand gone means power washing and a refill of polymeric sand. Color gone as well means the whole restoration, finished with two coats of sealer.

East Brunswick Homes By Era

Built After the Turnpike: East Brunswick's Housing by Decade

The New Jersey Turnpike reached East Brunswick in 1952, and in the next twenty years the population grew about sixfold, from 5,699 in 1950 to 34,166 in 1970. Of the roughly 17,400 homes counted in recent census estimates, three-quarters are single-unit, and roughly half were built between 1950 and 1979.

01

Before 1960: the first wave

The 1950s alone, the decade the Turnpike arrived, account for about one home in six. Add the older houses, including those of the Historic Village of Old Bridge, and a quarter of today's homes predate 1960.

These homes may need: power washing on concrete and brick that has weathered for seven decades or more, careful soft washing, and paint for trim and doors.

02

The 1960s and 1970s: the colonial years

About a third of the township's homes were built in these two decades, many of them colonials and ranches.

These homes may need: new shutters, trim repair and painting, and a full soft wash of the siding.

Signs an older East Brunswick house is ready for exterior work:

A driveway and front walk that have gone gray and blotchy, with green along the shaded edges.
Leaves and seed pods from the street trees piling up in the gutters by November.
Shutters faded pale on the sunny side of the house.
Gutters that overflow in a heavy rain, even after the leaves have been cleared from the ground.

03

The 1980s and later: townhouses and newer streets

The 1980s were the busiest single decade for building in East Brunswick, and townhouse communities such as Society Hill East date from then. About one home in eight has been built since 2000.

These homes may need: patio and walk cleaning, window cleaning, and, for associations, common-area work.

East Brunswick Up Close

Trees, Townhouses, and the Historic Village

01

Street trees and gutters

A Tree City USA since 1978, East Brunswick has the kind of mature trees that make a neighborhood and fill a gutter. We clean gutters by hand, flush every downspout, take before-and-after photos, and handle minor gutter repairs. Roofs under heavy shade pick up algae streaks and moss, and those are soft washed with no one walking on the shingles.

02

Townhouse communities

East Brunswick also has townhouse and condominium communities like Society Hill East, where the association may handle the siding and roofs. What belongs to the owner, such as a patio, an entry, or the windows, can still be booked, and associations can request a bid for shared areas.

Farrington Lake and Lawrence Brook

Lawrence Brook runs along the township's western side, widened by dams into Farrington Lake, about 290 acres, and Westons Mill Pond. Bicentennial Park's 34 acres sit on the lake. Along the water, with trees overhead, green shows up first on the shaded walls, and walks and steps turn slick.

Older homes in the Historic Village of Old Bridge

The historic district by the South River is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Older painted surfaces need a lighter hand, which is exactly what a soft wash is.

An East Brunswick Year

Spring in a Tree City means pollen on everything, and that is when house washing and paver work start; they run through November. When the street trees drop their leaves in October, gutters take over. From mid-November to March the painting is indoors.

Honest Advice for East Brunswick Homeowners

Good to Know Before You Book

01

Under big trees, plan on two gutter cleanings

On a lot with mature trees over the roof, one cleaning a year may not keep up. A fall cleaning after the leaves are down, plus a second one later, keeps the downspouts running. If one cleaning is enough for your house, that is what we will suggest.

02

Paint over dirt does not last

If the trim on an older colonial needs paint, the soft wash comes first, then sanding and repairs. Painting over grime and mildew is how paint starts peeling early.

03

Townhouse owners: check the rules first

If you live in a townhouse community, find out what the association maintains before you book work on the siding or roof. It saves paying for something the association already handles.

Worth knowing before you book

Siding, fences, stucco, and roofs are soft washed. Decks are cleaned at controlled pressure with a wood solution. High pressure is only used on concrete, pavers, and brick.
If a gutter needs more than a minor repair, we refer you to a gutter contractor.
Sills, tracks, and frames can be cleaned with the glass, priced above a glass-only cleaning.

East Brunswick FAQ

East Brunswick Questions

Home in East Brunswick, NJ, cleaned by Catanzaro's Power Washing

Is the Historic Village of Old Bridge part of Old Bridge Township?

No. The Historic Village of Old Bridge is a section of East Brunswick, by the South River. Old Bridge Township is a separate town next door. We work in both.

Will a power washer strip the paint on my older house?

It would, which is why we do not use one on painted siding. Siding is soft washed at under 100 PSI, and the cleaning solution is neutralized after use and properly rinsed.

My colonial's shutters are faded. Can you match the originals?

Yes. New Mid-America shutters come in every style, and we color match them with samples. The old ones are taken down and disposed of, and the wall behind them is checked.

Can our townhouse board get a bid for the common areas?

Yes. Tell us which walks, entries, and parking areas are included and how often, and we will put together a bid. Certificates of insurance are available on request.

Are my 1950s brick steps safe to power wash?

If the brick and mortar are sound, yes. Where mortar is loose or crumbling, point it out so we can go easy there.

Do I need to be home?

It helps to be there at the start, when we go over the job, and at the end for the walk-through. In between, just leave the outside spigot on, the windows closed, and the cars away from the garage.
